Getting Kissable Lips

Most women see Angelina Jolie’s lips and curse them — why can’t my lips be shapely and plump like hers? But you can have plumper, more kissable lips with a little Restylane Silk or Juvederm Volbella. Both of those hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are FDA approved for lip enhancement and Dr. Amirlak uses them to give our patients the plump, full, kissable lips they’ve always wanted.
Silk and Volbella both fill out the lips and also address the vertical wrinkles on the lips that come with age. They also can fill other lines surrounding the mouth.
Restylane Silk and Juvederm Volbella
You’ve heard of Restylane, the hyaluronic acid filler used for treatment of wrinkles such as nasolabial folds. It was the first dermal filler approved by the FDA back in 2005. In January of 2015 a new member was added to the Restylane family, Restylane Silk. Restylane Silk is a smooth gel designed to restore natural definition and symmetry to the lip and mouth area.
Juvederm is the other big name in dermal fillers with five different options. In the summer of 2016, the Juvederm line increased when Volbella was introduced. Whereas Juvederm Ultra adds fullness and plumps thin lips, Volbella is tailored to add subtle volume to the lips and smooth the appearance of vertical lip lines.
What do these fillers work on?
Dr. Amirlak uses Silk and Volbella in two ways: to enhance the lips and to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles on the lips and the surrounding areas. These wrinkles are sometimes called “barcode” lines, and these fillers fill out and erase them. They both do this without adding artificial-looking volume or over-plumping the lips.
How does it work?
Restylane Silk and Juvederm Volbella are clear hyaluroic acid gels that have been formulated specifically for the lips and surrounding areas of the face. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. Its job is to plump and hydrate the skin. It does this by binding with nearby water molecules. Because the skin around the mouth is delicate, Silk and Volbella are formulated with smaller particles in a smooth texture. This smoothness makes these fillers very accurate when placed, an important fact for the lips.
