Slimmer Arms for the Spring

Arm Liposuction Dallas TXOur Dallas winters aren’t exactly Minnesota-esque, but it’s not like we’re out romping about the pool, either. And if you’re self-conscious about donning a swimsuit or sleeveless dress because of loose skin on your upper arms, winter is a great time for an arm lift with Dr. Amirlak.

Significant weight gain or weight loss, or simply the relentless march of time, can create loose skin on the upper arms. This results in unsightly, inelastic flabby areas on the bottom of both upper arms, sometimes referred to as “bat wings.”

Dr. Amirlak can address this problem with a plastic surgery procedure called brachioplasty, commonly known as an arm lift. This procedure removes excess skin and fat in the upper arms.

You may think that your upper arms can be firmed up with a daily dose of triceps exercises. Actually, if the skin has stretched in this area, it can be almost impossible to firm them up with exercise of any sort. The same is true of simply using liposuction the upper arms. If the problem is really loose skin, removing fat will make the problem worse.

An arm lift, sometimes done in conjunction with liposuction, is the path recommended path by Dr. Amirlak.

How is an arm lift done?

For this procedure, Dr. Amirlak makes an incision either on the inside or on the back of the arm near the elbow. The length and pattern of the incision, which could extend all the way up to the underarm, will depend on the amount and location of the excess skin present. Fat deposits in the area may be removed through excision or liposuction. Once the fat has been removed, the supportive tissues in the arm are tightened and contoured using internal sutures. The skin is then re-draped and smoothed to conform to the new tighter contour.

What results can I expect?

Dr. Amirlak will have you in compression sleeves after your procedure. There will be some bruising and swelling, but your new firmer upper arms will be noticeable immediately after the procedure. There will also be scarring along your incisions, but they will fade with time.
