Bigger Backsides are In

Buttock Augmentation Dallas TXIf you’re over 40, you’re old enough to remember when supermodels all strove to look as if they were either on a hunger strike or were heroin addicts. This look was perpetuated by Kate Moss, who was the top model of that period. Her curveless figure was seemingly on every beauty magazine cover.

Fortunately, normal women realized that look wasn’t really attainable or even desirable. Women should celebrate their curves and their different body types and sizes.

Along those lines, the Brazilian Butt Lift, which is simply buttock augmentation through fat injections, has become a very popular procedure. You need to look no further than the omnipresence of Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, and Jennifer Lopez and their round posteriors to know that bigger bottoms are in.

Dr. Amirlak performs buttocks augmentation, the Brazilian Butt Lift, at his Dallas practice.

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift and how is it different from butt augmentation?

Fat augmentation is a more recent addition. Formerly, patients opted to have buttock implants to round and increase their backsides.

A Brazilian Butt Lift differs dramatically from augmentation with implants. In a Brazilian Butt Lift, a patient’s own fat is used for the augmentation. In implant augmentation, implants are surgically placed. In implant augmentation, the results are permanent, but sometimes implants can move and require revision surgery. The consensus seems to be that Brazilian Butt Lift augmentation delivers more natural looking results. Dr. Amirlak prefers the Brazilian Butt Lift except in cases where the patient has very little body fat to harvest, such as body builders or exceptionally thin patients.

How is a Brazilian Butt Lift performed?

A nice secondary benefit of having a Brazilian lift is that the fat needed for the augmentation is taken from the patient, so an area of unwanted fat can be targeted. Fat is harvested from the unwanted area (most popular areas are the lower back, waist, flanks, thighs, and stomach) through liposuction. Small incisions are made. Local anesthesia is infused first, and then a thin cannula is inserted and moved back and forth to loosen the fat pockets in the area. The cannula then suctions out the fat. Up to three times the amount of fat that will be re-injected may be harvested. By removing fat, it not only provides the raw material for the buttock enhancement, but it also contours the areas around the butt for a more dramatic result.

Next, the fat, tissue, and blood that were suctioned out are processed to separate the fat. Dr. Amirlak then re-injects the fat back into the buttocks through hundreds of tiny injections all over your buttocks at varying depths. Dr. Amirlak pays particular attention to the upper buttocks, so the entire area looks youthfully lifted.

How long do results take?

Results are immediately visible, but they keep improving with time because it takes some time for the fat to “take.” It can take a full year before a patient’s full results are visible. Over time, some of the initial volume from your fat grafting procedure will diminish. On average, patients retain 60 to 80% of the transferred fat, with the body absorbing the rest.
